The latest proof you can find in our home of how well loved our furry friend is, is an electronic feeder. Marlo has been on a pretty strict diet for the last three years (I guess living in a tiny studio apartment before that was not good for his dietary self-control). Marlo eats twice a day. And we can usually tell when Marlo is ready for his next food installment. He gets clingy and extra purry (this can be cute, but when you're trying to make dinner or sleep in on a Saturday, it is not always enjoyed). So, for everyone's sanity, we got an electronic feeder, and Robert made a few improvements to it. It is connected to an outlet timer. The feeder turns on at times we have programmed into the timer and releases just the right amount of food for Marlo. Robert brilliantly added a chime, which sounds every feeding time. Now, Marlo can hear the chime wherever he is in our home and he knows it's eating time. It is quite hilarious to watch him literally fly off of furniture so he can run and get his beloved rations. It's pretty great, too, to see how his evening begging routine has changed. Before he would pace around the kitchen and constantly talk, reminding us that he thinks he's on the brink of death from starvation. He still does that a little now, but now he also sits in front of his feeder and watches it. I think he's trying to figure out why he can't turn it on like he can his motion-sensored water fountain.
